i really like the lyric in this song which says
#even now you're undressed in your dreams with me..
im only here for this moment#
i wanna know what people think #im only here for this moment# means
cause it could be like i'm only here for now and i'll be gone in a bit
or it could mean [how i like to think it means] that you should live for the now,, you should live as this is the only moment
any thoughts??

A sket is like a dirty, pikey girl. Say you're with your little brother who's 13 and you see a ratty little girl who you know. He'll go "I really like that girl", and you'll go "Please don't go anywhere near her, she's a right sket". She's a girl who's manky. Manky inside.

I've always loved the sea, and will live by it one day,I know what it means to take it all in, to feel its power and my insignificance, do you?
You know when a song takes you beyond normal experience, to a world that doesn't exist except in poetry or music, and makes you believe its real? They raise your sights to contemplate a world we only know about in thought. I was so surprised when I listened in to the lyrics to this one. Let's get metaphysical. Truly sublime...
Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you missed,
when the ocean met the sky.
You missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye.
When the earth folded on itself.
And said "Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell
are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath."
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death?
You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste death?

Actually, Ben Folds wrote this song about a guy who really did trip, climb a tree, and then came down a born-again Christian. Funny how that works, no?

As a kid, it took me a few listens to completely understand that this song is about a patient with schizophrenia who had unknowingly checked himself into a mental institution.
Fun fact of the day: there actually is such a mental institution over in California. I have a friend who lives right by it.

So many friends of mine have wondered what exactly this song was about. Drugs? Suicide? Pregnancy?
It just so happens Ben Folds wrote this song after he and his girlfriend at the time were struggling with their decision to have an abortion.

Kate Nash said that at the point of writing this album she hadn't actually had a proper boyfriend despite the fact that most of the songs are about relationships. But I guess you don't need to be in a relationship to have this kind of feeling. Isn't this what every girl wants??

1 word - GODZILLA (ish) :D (bear with me..)
1. obviously "go tell all your friends, that this is the end" - well a giant monster roaming around, most would have that responce - i think this is what the crowd or screaming peopel would say
2. "i don't understand a word you're saying
what are the clouds running from?" General confusion about chaos and destruction in the city
3. "i just fell from the mothership" OK - SPACEGODZILLA is godzillas brother (i think) and coems from space..so possible reference
4. "your answers they're always lying on the ocean bed" in some, if not all, stories Godzilla rests/rested on the ocean floor of the Antartic before he was awoken...so thats that sorted
5. "and i'll plead with a thousand voices" - a recurring theme of the MANY godzilla films is a young boy who is the monsters only human friend - who would be pleading with the world not to kill the beast
OR as some are saying "and i'll scream with a thousand voices" well thats the people ofthe city when he first appears isnt it..
6. next verse. again, about general confusion and chaos about the destruction and origin of the creature. then "no self centered natives destroying our earth" i seem to remember Godzilla was on earth well before humans (although asleep..?) so he would have been "native"
7. then "walk the plank". obviously you cant make a 200m tall monster walk a plank, but in the first films definately he terrified the world and they tried to destroy him..so "walking the plank" would send him back to his watery bed..where he wouldnt harm anyone
this could be total coinsidences, but thats what i think :) AND im going by the japanese films, not the god-awful american one
what do you all think?

this song is about Anthony's suicide attempt not a failed friendship like most people think, "lost in a haunting thought" is when hes thinking about it "smokes filled the air and im struggling to breathe" is that he hung himself. when you listen to this song first than stop the fuckin car it becomes clear.

The title track to How to Save a Life recounts Slade's mentoring relationship with a teenager at a Christian halfway house who seemed hell-bent on destroying himself but, fortunately, did not. With the power of a biblical lament, Slade mourns and cries in anger at the same time:
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
"This kid had a thousand opportunities to get into trouble and he got into all of them," Slade says. "It was heartbreaking to see all the sacrifice that went into trying to save this kid. A lot of it came out of love, but it came across as self-righteousness."
The song, Slade says, actually is "a case study" of a point in time of struggling with the teen, whose life is finally turning for the better. "I talked to him just last month," he adds.

The hit "Over My Head (Cable Car)" recounts the struggle to maintain a relationship with his brother. "We had our ideological differences," Slade says. "We were not seeing eye-to-eye on a whole lot of things, and we had to figure out whether or not the relationship was going to continue."
Slade's songwriting skills are apparent in two lines of the song, which capture the pain of wishing his brother were someone else so the situation and accompanying pain could summarily be dismissed:
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Say that we agree and then never change
"I think that's the part that a lot of people can relate to," says Slade, acknowledging that most people think the song is about a girl. "All real relationships don't just happen. They take so much work, sacrifice, compromise and understanding and determination to keep going.

This song is about the drugs being given to Richards dying father not having any effect, and actually exacerbating his situation. And also could be seen as Richards ill-fated attempts to use drugs to alleviate the pain of losing his father.

there are some of my all time favourite lyrics
all emotional and sad
i especially love the questions about the mannequins eyes
"do they all look like mine??
i like the thought of mannequins' dead eyes
oh and also the bit about making up the bed
i see that as referring to when people say "well you've made your own bed", as if you should therefore put up with the consequences
but here he's sayin he wants her to make up his bed
and therefore make up his mind
and then using the bed thing as pun where he's sayin "try it for sleeping some time" rather than anythin else, ie. shaggin
i like clever little lyrics that stick in my mind like those do
I wish you'd make up my bed
So I could make up my mind
Try it for sleeping instead
Maybe you'll rest sometime

The "strange fruit" referred to in the song are the bodies of African American men hanged during a lynching. They contrast the pastoral scenes of the South with the ugliness of racist violence. The lyrics were so chilling that Holiday later said "The first time I sang it, I thought it was a mistake. There wasn't even a patter of applause when I finished. Then a lone person began to clap nervously. Then suddenly everyone was clapping and cheering.

This song appears to sample those slide projector toys that I used to have as a little boy, which you would look into and press the button and a new picture would appear....so much fun....
I think this song and its title are reference to LSD. I dont know if I can explain this clearly enough, but when I have been on an LSD trip it has felt reminiscent of being a child and discovering things for the first time. Really simple things entertained me, my mates have said similar, especially one who ended up playing with playdo for 2 hours ha ha.
So for me, kid for today is about shedding all those adult responsibilties and complexities and feeling what its like to be a kid again..a kid on drugs ha ha

Personally, my interpretation of it is basically insecurity, like having someone who makes you feel like you "belong" and needing them for it, but at the same time being shit-scared someone else will come along and take that from you, hence that bit.
